JOPLIN, MO – Seneca High School hosted the 2025 Bordertown Relays and there were several standout performances from local student-athletes.

Seneca, Thomas Jefferson Independent, and New Heights Christian Academy all secured top finishes on the boys and girls’ side.

BOYS HIGHLIGHTS

In the boys’ 100-meter dash, Seneca’s Tyrone Harris claimed first place with a blazing time of 11.62 seconds, leading a strong showing for his team. 

New Heights Christian’s Levi Durling followed closely in second with 11.72 seconds, while Seneca’s Noah Mittag rounded out the podium with a 11.99-second finish. 

The 200 saw a repeat performance, with Harris again taking gold at 23.41 seconds and Durling securing silver at 23.75 seconds. Pierce City’s Landen Stanphill took third with 24.04 seconds.

Durling continued his impressive day in the 400, earning first place for New Heights Christian with a time of 52.20 seconds. 

In the 800-meter run, Thomas Jefferson’s Liam Cook secured a podium spot, finishing third with a time of 2:08.84, just behind Ketchum’s Weeks (2:07.96) and East Newton’s Mason Silva (2:08.52).

The 1600 saw Thomas Jefferson dominate the top three, with Will Twiss taking second at 4:50.30 and Braden Honeywell-Lynch finishing third at 4:51.12. The duo repeated their success in the 3200-meter run, with Twiss again in second (10:24.27) and Honeywell-Lynch in third (10:32.92).

In the 110 hurdles, Thomas Jefferson’s Sheraz Anis earned a third-place finish with 18.96 seconds, following East Newton’s Scott Powell (17.25) and Pierce City’s Eli Genzler (18.74). 

Seneca’s Grant Landers dominated the field events, winning the long jump with a leap of 6.45 meters and the triple jump with 12.7 meters. New Heights Christian’s Derek Bowman took second in the long jump with 5.92 meters, while Seneca’s Mittag placed fifth in the triple jump with 11.15 meters.

Seneca also excelled in the relays, winning both the 4x100-meter relay (45.66 seconds) and the 4x200-meter relay (1:34.61). Thomas Jefferson claimed victory in the 4x800-meter relay with a time of 8:46.03, while New Heights Christian finished fifth in the same event at 9:42.95.

GIRLS HIGHLIGHTS

On the girls’ side, Seneca’s Cambry Long earned third place in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:04.82, behind Jasper’s Chloe Storm (1:02.68) and Pierce City’s Liliana Lasker (1:02.95). 

In the 800, Thomas Jefferson’s Macie Shifferd took first with 2:39.59. Shifferd continued her success in the 1600, finishing second at 5:37.19, just behind Pierce City’s Emma Hunt (5:35.88).

Thomas Jefferson’s Vivian Sharp placed third in the 3200 with 14:25.24, following Southwest’s Sidney Roe (12:47.43) and Commerce’s Irish Mccleary (14:19.02).

In the field events, Seneca’s Hadley Hilburn and Anna Adkins took second and third in the high jump with marks of 1.5 meters and 1.45 meters, respectively. 

Seneca’s Marylynn Gil secured third in the triple jump with a 9.04-meter leap, following Springfield Catholic’s Victoria Majorahn (10.54 meters) and Pierce City’s Paige Fenske (10.46 meters).

Seneca dominated the girls’ relays, winning the 4x100-meter relay (53.76 seconds), 4x200-meter relay (1:52.29), and 4x400-meter relay (4:27.63). They also placed third in the 4x800-meter relay with 12:19.94, behind Commerce (11:02.78) and Pierce City (11:16.53).
