Carl Junction, Mac County, Webb City take part in C3D3 tournament

Carl Junction, McDonald County and Webb City boys wrestling competed at the Class 3 District 3 wrestling tournament over the weekend.

The Bulldogs took second place with 158.5 points, while the Mustangs took third as a team with 121 points. The Cardinals totaled 50.5 points as a team.

Carl Junction led the charge with multiple champions. Senior Carter Foglesong (38-6) dominated the 120-pound class, securing first place with an 18-2 technical fall over Warrensburg’s Dayton Dunn in just 2:16. 

At 175 pounds, senior Tony Stewart (36-3) edged out Bolivar’s Mason McCurry in a thrilling 5-4 decision to claim the title. 

Junior Marcus Lopez-Durman (35-3) added to the Bulldogs’ haul, taking the 190-pound crown with a 5-3 victory over Marshfield’s Tyce Jones.

Freshman Landon Fields (30-16) earned third at 106 pounds with a swift 0:54 pin over Hillcrest’s Daylin Houston. 

Junior Camdon Kunkel (31-12) took third at 126 pounds, pinning Capital City’s Ethan Wydra in 2:37. 

Sophomore Aaron Dillingham (37-10) battled to second place at 150 pounds, falling 1:43 by pin to Marshfield’s Tanner Davidson, while freshman Jaxson Yaple (22-23) finished fourth at 132 pounds after a 9-5 loss to Warrensburg’s Henry Wheeler.

McDonald County also had a banner day. Junior Eberson Perez (25-9) claimed the 113-pound title with a commanding 15-0 technical fall over Union’s Chase Manhart in 4:18. 

Freshman Stevan Benhumea (28-7) continued the Mustangs’ success at 215 pounds, edging out Webb City’s Louden Bolinger (24-9) in a tight 2-0 decision to take first place.

Bolinger settled for a strong second-place finish, marking Webb City’s top result of the tournament.

McDonald County’s depth shone through with additional placers. Junior Robinson Yoshino (27-14) took second at 132 pounds, falling 3:22 by pin to Camdenton’s Finnegan McNitt.

Senior Alex Bogart (35-16) earned third at 190 pounds with a narrow 5-4 decision over Capital City’s Darius Hendricks.

Senior Miguel Melendez (28-16) grabbed second at 285 pounds, dropping a 3-0 decision to Helias Catholic’s Zyan Knollmeyer, while freshman Christian Benhumea (19-20) finished fourth at 120 pounds after a 4:03 fall to Washington’s Gable Ohm.

Webb City’s presence was felt beyond Bolinger’s runner-up finish. Senior Jordon White (17-15) battled to fourth place at 285 pounds, falling 3:46 by pin to Hillcrest’s Andrew Neer in the third-place match.
