THOMAS JEFFERSON BOYS 52, MCAULEY 40
The Thomas Jefferson boys basketball team used a strong second half to defeat McAuley on Friday.
The Cavaliers trailed by two at the half and outscored the Warriors 18-11 in the third quarter and added to that lead down the stretch in the fourth period.
Jack Twiss led Thomas Jefferson with 26 points, while Kohl Thurman finished with 10 points.
Michael Parrigon had 14 points to lead the Warriors, while Max Anrender had 11.
Thomas Jefferson is 15-10 on the year and takes on Marion C Early in the Class 2 District 12 Tournament on Monday.
McAuley is 18-8 and is the top seed in the Class 1 District 5 Tournament, taking on the winner of Walnut Grove and Golden City on Wednesday.
WILLARD BOYS 60, JOPLIN 43
The Willard boys basketball team outscored Joplin by 13 in the first quarter and never relinquished the lead in a win on Friday.
Willard outscored Joplin in the first three quarters en route to victory.
Brecken Green led Joplin with 13 points, while Hudson Mathhiesen finished with 12 points.
Joplin is 9-14 on the season and hosts Parkview on Tuesday.
REPUBLIC BOYS 65, CARTHAGE 57
Republic built an early lead and held off Carthage for a conference win.
Republic outscored Carthage 11-4 in the first period and paced the way to the final horn.
Dylan Pugh had 20 points and four 3-pointers to lead Carthage in scoring. Kruz Castor added 11 points in the loss.
The Carthage boys are 14-10 on the season and host Lebanon on Tuesday.
OZARK BOYS 65, WEBB CITY 54
Ozark built an early lead and held off a Webb City rally for a conference win on Friday.
The Tigers led by 14 points after the first quarter and ballooned the lead to 25 by the intermission. Webb City rallied down the stretch, but it was not enough.
Holton Keith had 21 points to lead the Cardinals in scoring, while Slade Hurd added 19 in the loss.
Webb City is 12-12 on the season and hosts Neosho on Monday.
PARKVIEW BOYS 65, NEOSHO 55
The Parkview boys basketball team outscored Neosho 37-27 in the second half on the way to a win on Friday.
The loss brings Neosho’s record to 7-16 on the season.
Zach Forsyth had 16 points to lead the Wildcats, while Jaiden Foster had 11 and Kaiden Asberry finished with 10.
Neosho is at Webb City on Monday.
OZARK GIRLS 46, WEBB CITY 41
Webb City built an early lead only for Ozark to outscore the Cardinals in all of the final three periods en route to the win on Friday.
Webb City led by nine after the first quarter before Ozark outscored the Cardinals by six in the second, two in the third and six more in the fourth quarter.
Adalyn Maxwell had 14 points for the Cardinals, while Abby Sargent added 12.
Webb City is 16-8 on the season and hosts Neosho on Monday.
REPUBLIC GIRLS 39, CARTHAGE 24
The Republic girls held Carthage to single-digit scoring in each quarter on the way to a COC win over the weekend.
"Our defense was amazing tonight,” Carthage coach Scott Moore said. “To hold Republic to just 39 points when they average over 55 points a game was great to see."
"Offensively, the shots weren't falling for us. The girls played hard and did everything we asked of them, just couldn't get enough shots to go down to stay in the game."
Lexa Youngblood had 11 points to lead Carthage in scoring.
Carthage is 12-12 on the season and hosts Lebanon on Tuesday.
