New Heights Christian Academy basketball player Adam Stanton and Carthage swimmer Olivia Manning are the Zimmer Marketing Male and Female Athletes of the Week brought to you by JL Mobile Truck and Trailer Repair.
Stanton, a junior, helped lead the Cougars to a third-place finish in the Mercy Warrior Classic last week. New Heights finished 2-1 as Stanton averaged 15 points and nine rebounds per game, including a 21-point and 14-rebound effort against Thomas Jefferson.
“He is a kid who gets better every game,” New Heights Christian coach Steve Harrel said. “He is starting to really understand how to score and when to score, which is important. He is a good team leader on and off the floor. He works really hard at his craft and I think God he is getting his flowers.”
Manning, a junior, put on quite the performance at the girls Southwest Missouri Championships in Springfield. Manning took first place in the championship of the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:09.46. She added a second-place finish in the 200 individual medley in a time of 2:21.07.
“Olivia is a very good swimmer,” Carthage coach Baden McBride said. “She excels at the breaststroke, particularly. She competes year round.”
Coaches can nominate students for athlete of the week by sending name, sport and stats/accolades for the previous week to sports@zrimarketing.com.
