WEBB CITY BOYS 61, HILLCREST 51
The Webb City boys basketball team took a lead into the fourth quarter and expanded it down the stretch for a double-digit win over Hillcrest on Friday.
Holton Keith had 32 points on 10-of-20 shooting, adding 10-of-17 shooting from the free-throw line. He added 10 rebounds for a double-double for Webb City.
Eli Pace finished with 12 points for the Cardinals.
Webb City is 6-5 on the season and hosts Lebanon on Tuesday.
JOPLIN BOYS 55, NEVADA 46
Joplin started fast and held off Nevada for a win on Friday.
The Eagles built an 11-point lead after the first quarter and went into the half up 14 before the Tigers went on a run to start the second half, trimming the margin to 46-42. Joplin held firm down the stretch to earn the win.
"We played three pretty solid quarters of basketball,” Joplin coach Nick Pfeifer said. “The first quarter especially, I thought we did an excellent job fighting through screens and rebounding the ball. The third quarter hurt, but, fortunately, we were able to right the ship a little in the fourth and held them to just two baskets. Offensively, I thought we got good looks and executed pretty well throughout the evening."
Fred Taylor finished with 13 points, while Cooper Williams added 11 for JHS.
Joplin is 7-6 on the season and takes part in the Bill Hanson Memorial Tournament on Thursday.
NEOSHO BOYS 58, EAST NEWTON BOYS 51
Neosho outscored East Newton in every quarter on the way to the win over the weekend.
Kael Smith led Neosho with 18 points, while Kaiden Asberry scored 15 in the win for the Wildcats. Oliver Martin and Zach Forsyth each had 10 points.
Neosho improves to 7-7 on the season and is at Lebanon on Thursday.
THOMAS JEFFERSON BOYS 74, SHELDON 20
Thomas Jefferson held Sheldon to eight points in the first half and single digits in each the third and fourth quarters to earn a blowout win on Friday.
The Cavaliers built a 19-point advantage in the first quarter and never looked back.
Jack Twiss led TJ in scoring with 27 points, while Will Twiss finished with 14. Ethan Renger added 12 points and Kohl Thurman scored eight.
Thomas Jefferson is 7-5 and 1-0 in Ozark 7 play.
MCAULEY BOYS 65, VERONA 25
The McAuley Catholic’s boys basketball team’s strong season continued with a dominating win over Verona on Friday.
Alex Bohachick had 14 points to lead the Warriors in scoring, while Michael Parrigon was right behind with 12 points in the win.
The victory moves McAuley Catholic to 11-3 on the season.
The Warriors host Everton on Tuesday.
NEW HEIGHTS GIRLS 57, EXETER 23
New Heights Christian girls basketball added a mark to the win column after cruising past Exeter.
Libby Fanning had a monster game with 27 points and 17 rebounds to finish with a double-double.
Kinley Marsh has nine points.
The Cougars are 8-4 and take part in the Lancer Classic on Monday through Friday.
SHELDON GIRLS 48, THOMAS JEFFERSON 40
The Thomas Jefferson girls basketball team fell to Sheldon on Friday.
Anna Hiebert led the way with 18 points, while Presley Long finished with 14 points, including four 3-pointers, in the loss for the Cavaliers.
TJ falls to 1-11 on the year and takes part in the Tony Dubray Classic on Monday through Friday.
