Webb City wrestler Louden Bolinger and Joplin basketball player Alissa Owens have been named the Zimmer Marketing Male and Female Athletes of the Week brought to you by JL Mobile Truck and Trailer Repair for the week ending on Dec. 14.
Bolinger took first place at the Union Tournament over the weekend after going 4-0 on the day with two falls and a technical fall.
“I was really impressed with how well Louden bounced back from our dual last week,” Webb City coach Dallas Smith said to Joplin Sports Hub. “He went straight to work at practice and it showed in this tournament. He stayed calm and in position when it mattered most.”
Owens had a strong weekend herself, earning a spot on the Freeman Lady Eagle Classic all-tournament team after finishing with 16 points and six rebounds against Leavenworth, 17 points and nine rebounds against Carl Junction and seven points and six rebounds against Blue Valley West over three games.
‘Alissa was fantastic during the Freeman Lady Eagles Classic last week, averaging14 points and seven rebounds.” Joplin coach Brad Cox said. “She continues to develop in a positive way and her ability to affect the game on both ends of the floor has been very special to watch.”
Coaches can nominate students for athlete of the week by emailing their name, sport and stats to sports@zrimarketing.com.
