WRESTLING RECAP: Neosho wins Missouri Duals; Carthage taks 3rd

NEOSHO BOYS BEAT HELIAS CATHOLIC TO WIN MISSOURI DUALS

The Neosho boy wrestling team came away with the team win at the Missouri Duals over the weekend.
After earning team wins over Marshal (84-0), Centralia (65-9), Father Tolton (66-8), Jefferson City (63-6), Coweta (43-23) and North Point (45-22), the Wildcats took down Helias Catholic 64-15 in the championship round.

At 106 pounds, Daemen Duemmel of Helias Catholic pinned Marztian Ioanis of Neosho in 2:46, giving Helias an early win. However, Neosho quickly dominated the next matches. Tucker Feagens (113) pinned Greg Cizin in just 33 seconds, while Sebastian Ioanis (120) and Anthony Stotts (126) both claimed wins by forfeit.

Brody Mitchell (132) earned a major decision over Alex Wieberg, 10-1. Kelton Shaffer (138) and Fisher Butler (144) continued Neosho's momentum with pins over Klein Bonnot and Caleb Labenz in 2:09 and 2:21, respectively. 

At 150, Hunter Butler secured a fall over Blaine Curtis at 5:27, and Carter Howard (157) pinned Benjamin Hole in just two minutes. Lincoln Howard (165) followed with a fall over Aleksandr Careaga in four minutes.

Helias Catholic saw another victory at 175 pounds, where Eli Homan pinned Kaymon Rhone in 2:25. Neosho responded as Chase Kivett (190) pinned Jackson Sherlock in just 1:23. At 215, Brady Fann of Helias Catholic secured a hard-fought 17-12 decision over Dayton Kivett, but Neosho finished strong at 285 pounds, with Everson Tomlinson pinning Bryce Allen in 2:15. Overall, Neosho displayed dominance, claiming most of the matchups by fall.

CARTHAGE BOYS COMPETE AT FARMINGTON, GIRLS AT BELTON 

Carthage boys wrestling took third place with 247.5 points at the Farmington Tournament over the weekend.

The Tigers had eight wrestlers finished in the top three on the boys side, while the girls team competed at Belton and had a pair of medalists. 

Jackson (354.5) took first as a team, while Farmington (253) placed second.

Earning first-place positions were Randy Teo at 106 pounds and Tanner Putt at 120 pounds.

Caden Groom (126) and Jaxton Lopez (285) took second-place finishes, while Grady Huntley (132), Aydan Nye (150), Lenny Escobar (165) and Latrell Abbasi (175) each took third place.

Att 113, Javi Perez took fourth, while Steve Serious placed fourth at 215 pounds. Earned fifth-place marks were Wyatt Hole (138), Emerson Ixcol (144) and Kayden Hole (157).

On the girls side at Belton, Kaylee James took second place at 130 pounds, while Irish Lee placed fifth at 140 pounds.
