VOLLEYBALL RECAP: NHCA, Webb City and Jasper with big wins

NHCA CLINCES CONFERENCE TITLE WITH WIN OVER WHEATON

New Heights Christian Academy completed an undefeated Ozark 7 Conference schedule with a 25-13, 25-12 and 25-16 win over Wheaton to earn the right of conference champions.

The win gives the Cougars a 20-10-2 record to close the regular season. New Heights Christian takes on Southwest at 6 p.m. on Tuesday in Class 2 District 11 action.

Toryn Fink led the Cougars against Wheaton with 13 kills, three aces and two assists. Caitlyn Meppleink had 34 assists and 22 service points, including seven aces. Lydia Hiple added 10 kills and two blocks, while Karly Dorris had eight kills.

Lilly Plassman had 26 digs and two assists, while Ava Lett had 11 digs and a block.

WEBB CITY CLOSES REGULAR SEASON WITH WIN OVER JOPLIN

Webb City defeated Joplin 25-17, 25-20 and 25-12 on Thursday to close the regular season.

The Cardinals close the season with a X record, while Joplin sits at 6-24-1. Webb City takes part in the Lafayette quad on Saturday. Joplin takes on Neosho in the Class 5 District 7 Tournament on Tuesday.

Jaeli Rutledge had 11 kills and three blocks in the win, while Adalyn Maxwell added eight kills for Webb City. 

Avery Gardner led the Cardinals with 20 digs, while Savannah Crane had 30 assists. Jaylee Van Becelaere added 15 digs, while Kirra Long had 12 digs.

JASPER WINS WEMO

In other action, Jasper defeated Liberal 25-16, 25-17 and 25-11 to become the WEMO Conference Champions with an 8-0 conference record. The Eagles close the regular season with a 30-1 record.

Jasper takes on Northeast Vernon County in the Class 1 District 11 Tournament on Oct. 28.
