Seneca's Clouse, NHCA's Plassman named athletes of the week

Seneca quarterback Kaden Clouse and New Heights Christian Academy libero Lilly Plassman have been named as the Zimmer Marketing Male and Female Athletes of the Week for the week ending Oct. 12 brought to you by JL Mobile Truck and Trailer Repair and Elements Construction Concepts.

Clouse, a senior, was instrumental in Class 3 No. 2 Seneca’s 49-21 win over McDonald County last week. Clouse has proven to be a dual-threat option at quarterback this season, and that was no different against the Mustangs. He threw for 111 yards and a touchdown as well as a 2-point conversion while also rushing 12 times for 163 yards and two more touchdowns.

“He’s a very smart player,” “He has been in our system for four years. Yes, this is his first year starting at quarterback for us, but he has played quarterback for four years now. He really understands our scheme each and every week, and it starts right there.”

Plassman, a junior, etched her name in the history books after accumulating 71 digs last week to become the top-ranked player in the state of Missouri and 15th in the country. She has more than 670 digs this season and was also recently recognized for surpassing 1,000-career digs.

“She’s definitely very hard working,” New Heights Christian Academy coach Christy Hipple said to JoplinSportsHub.com. “She’s got a lot of grit and she just pushes through soreness and injuries. It’s a lot on her body, but she just bounces right back and pushes the pain.”

Coaches can nominate athletes of the week by emailing the name, sport and stats for their player to sports@zrimarketing.com by Tuesday of the following week.
