SOFTBALL RECAP: Neosho wins; Webb City, Joplin fall

NEOSHO 1, CARTHAGE 0

CARTHAGE, Mo. — After six scoreless Neosho broke through in the top of the seventh when a run scored on a passed ball to give the Wildcats the lead for good in the win over Carthage on Tuesday.

Carleigh Kinnaird earned the complete-game win after scattering six hits and striking out 12 in seven innings.

Lottie Youngblood took the loss after allowing one run on four hits and five strikeouts in seven complete innings.

WILLARD 5, WEBB CITY 4

WILLARD, Mo. — Willard built an early lead and held off Webb City’s late comeback for a conference win on Tuesday.

DeLaney Dixon earned the win after allowing four runs, three earned, on six hits and three strikeouts in 6 1/3 innings.

Addison Burns took the loss after allowing four runs on eight hits in five innings.

Liz Rhuems had two hits, including a double, three RBI and a run scored.

Abby Sargent had two hits and drove in one.

REPUBLIC 3, JOPLIN 2

REPUBLIC, Mo. — Republic pushed across a run in the first inning and added two more in the third to build an insurmountable lead in a win over Joplin.

The Eagles scored twice in the fifth, but that would be all the offense in the loss.

Kara Goeke earned the win after allowing two unearned runs on three hits and four strikeouts in four innings.

Ava Wolf took the loss after allowing three runs, two earned, on seven hits and three strikeouts in six innings.

Wolf had two hits at the plate, including a double, while Jadyn Pankow doubled and drove in two.
