SPORTS RECAP: NHCA volleyball, CJ and Nesoho softball win

VOLLEYBALL

NEW HEIGHTS CHRISTIAN 3, GOLDEN CITY 0

New Heights Christian Academy volleyball defeated Golden City in sweeping fashion, 25-11, 25-7 and 25-11.

Caitlyn Meppelink finished 14 aces in service and 18 assists to go along with one block. Toryn Fink added six aces, seven kills and six digs. Lydia Hipple had seven kills and a block, while Lilly Plassman had 17 digs.

SOFTBALL

CARL JUNCTION 8, CARTHAGE 7

Carl Junction built an early lead and held off Carthage for an 8-7 win in non-conference action on Monday.

Madi Olds had two hits, including a double, scored twice and drove in one, while Kinley Spinder had a hit and drove in two.

Kiley Spencer earned the complete-game win after allowing seven runs, four earned, on 10 hits and three strikeouts in 7 innings. She added three hits, scored twice and drove in one at the plate.

Ali Wicklund had three hits, two RBI and scored twice for Carthage, while Ashlyn Brust had two hits and scored a run.

NEOSHO 3, CASSVILLE 0

Neosho took the lead with a run in the second inning and added insurance tallies in the sixth and seventh innings on the way to a win over Cassville.

Carleigh Kinnaird was dominant for the Wildcats, striking out 11 and scattering four hits in a seven-inning complete-game shutout.

Autumn Kinnaird homered, while Journey Arnall doubled on the way to two hits, an RBI and a run scored. Carleigh Kinnaird also had a pair of hits in the win.
