In a field of 10 teams, Carthage boys swimming came away with the first-place spot for its first win of the season.
The Tigers took first with 359 points, while Joplin took second at 264. Monett (256) took third and Nevada (251) placed fourth.
Carthage’s Braxton McBride swam the 100-yard freestyle in 52.90 seconds to take first place.
In the 500, Joplin’s Nathan Wardlow took first at 4:58.40, while Isaiah Thom took second (6:14.21) and Carthage’s Dylan Evans (6:18.79) placed third. Wardlow also took first in the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:04.59.
Thomas Jefferson’s Asahan Appuhamy placed first in the 100 butterfly in a time of 1:00.68.
In the 100 backstroke, Joplin’s Parker Hinman took first at 59:08 and Nevada’s Kolton Evans (1:01.56) took second, while Carthage’s William Wright placed first in the 100 breaststroke in a time of 1:03.16.
In the 200 relay, Carthage’s team of McBride, Wright, Maverick Allphin and Aydan Nye took first at 1:37.27.
