SOFTBALL ROUNDUP: Joplin, Neosho, Carthage and Webb City all earn home wins

JOPLIN 13, LEBANON 3

Joplin used a six-run third inning to plow through Lebanon with a 13-3 win to move to 4-1 to start the season.

The Eagles scored two runs in their first at-bat at home to build a lead before pushing across six runs in third, two more in the fourth and sixth innings and another in the fifth to build an insurmountable lead.

Joplin was led at the plate by Riley Kelly’s three hits, including two doubles, and three RBI. Ava Wolf had two hits and two RBI, while Gracie Williamson had two hits, two RBI and two runs scored. Jadyn Pankow had two hits and scored three times, while driving in one.

Caelyn Bobski earned the win in the circle after allowing three runs, one earned, on seven hits in six innings.

Joplin hosts McDonald County on Thursday.


NEOSHO 10, WAYNESVILLE 0

NEOSHO, Mo. — Neosho’s bats performed early and often as the Wildcats cruised past Waynesville 10-0 to get to 3-0 on the season.

Neosho scored eight times in the first inning to take control of the contest early. The Wildcats added single digit tallies in the third and fourth innings to end the game in five frames via run rule.

Kynden Smith had three hits, two doubles, two RBI and scored a run, while Avyn Blair doubled twice and drove in two with a run scored. Addy Hart had a hit, two RBI and scored twice.

Carly Kinnaird earned the complete-game win in the circle after blanking Waynesville over five innings, allowing just one hit.

Neosho is at Lebanon on Thursday.

CARTHAGE 10, SENECA 0

CARTHAGE, Mo. — Carthage started fast and never looked back in a 10-0 win over Seneca in its home opener to stay perfect on the season at 5-0.

The Tigers scored in every inning, including multiple runs in each inning but the third.

Avyn Willis had two hits and scored three times, while Lottie Youngblood had a hit, drove in one and scored a run.

Addie Willace earned the win in the circle after scattering two hits over five scoreless innings, striking out five without walking a batter.

Carthage is at Glendale on Thursday.

WEBB CITY 2, NIXA 1

WEBB CITY, Mo. — Webb City started the season off on the right foot with a 2-1 win over Nixa in its season opener at home.

The Eagles broke a scoreless tie with a run touching home in the top of the fifth inning. The Cardinals rallied when Lily Hall came up clutch, belting a two-run home run to center field to put WCHS in front for good.

Karsyn Calhoon, who had one of Webb City’s five hits, earned the win in relief after pitching two scoreless innings with a walk and two punchouts.

Addie Brown and Liz Rhuems also had hits for the Cardinals.

Webb City is at Waynesville on Thursday.
